A couple of weeks back, a collection of Torontonians got together for a film competition where each team had little money and one weekend to make a movie. Called The Lo-Fi, Sci-Fi film challenge, the competition relied on the energy and enthusiasm of the teams. In total, seven films were made.
Do-It-Yourself film making has never been easier, with cameras and editing equipment widely accessible. Jim Munroe’s Infest Wisely makes the most of its limited resources, and remains a provocative and intelligent production. All it takes is a bit of inspiration, a group of willing friends, and the willingness to try.
