“Business shouldn’t exist in order to create wealth. It should exist in order to give people better lives.” So says Zingerman’s co-owner Paul Saginaw in the very short video called This Is Ownership.
Zingerman’s Deli first opened in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1982, and their sandwiches and service proved popular with customers. Where this business success is different is in the interest of it’s owners to remain connected to the community, rather than pursuing franchise opportunities that leverage greater financial opportunities.
I think this film does a remarkable job of presenting a holistic approach to personal investment and the remarkable things that can happen when you’re willing to commit to employees, customers and the broader community as key partners in building success.
